The novel COVID-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented and serious threat to patients, staff and medical professionals. In accordance with the current recommendation from the Australian Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgeons and other international bodies, we have elected to adapt our practice in the following manner:
- We are still seeing all Ear, Nose, Throat, Head & Neck patients
- All patients will be offered consultations via telehealth
- Telephone consultations are available for patients
- Consultations will continue in the practice where clinically indicated

About Dr Tim Makeham
Dr Makeham is an Otolaryngologist working at Calvary John James Hospital, Canberra Private Hospital and The Canberra Hospital. Dr Makeham completed his degrees in Economics and Engineering at the ANU before undertaking a post graduate medical degree at Flinders University of South Australia. He attained his Fellowship in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010. Since 2011 he has run a general ENT practice located in Canberra with an interest in Otology and Rhinology.
The practice is now co-located with the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) and SCIC Cochlear Implant Program.
Dr Makeham is an affiliated surgeon with the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and SCIC Cochlear Implant Program where he is the lead surgeon for Cochlear Implantation at The Canberra Hospital. The implant program services both ACT and Southern regional New South Wales.
Dr Makeham is a member of the Australasian Rhinological society. He has established image guidance rhinological surgical techniques at The Canberra Hospital and within the ACT. He is a member of the multidisciplinary anterior skull base surgical team at The Canberra Hospital.
Dr Makeham is the Surgical Supervisor of Otolaryngology training in the ACT and is actively involved in the training of medical students from the Australian National University and, through his affiliation with the John James Foundation, the training of medical students from the James Cook University.
