Cost of a Cochlear Implant through SCIC

The majority of services provided at SCIC are at no cost to the client.

Who pays for these services?

  1. The NSW Department of Health: Funding is provided by the NSW Department of Health for Australian citizens for a limited number of cochlear implants each year
  2. Private health: Most Australian private health funds cover the costs of the implant and hospital expenses
  3. Veterans Affairs: Holders of Gold Veteran Affairs card are fully covered.
  4. SCIC charity: SCIC relies on additional financial support from the community and corporate sectors through the SCIC charity to provide cochlear implants and ongoing services to an increasing number of recipients each year.
